Description

This is 4.3 oz fiberglass mesh with 36 holes per square inch – ideal for working with small tiles. One side is self-adhesive, so you don’t have to make a mess with glue as you’re laying out your design! Instead, you just lay your tiles in place, press them down just a little, and that’s it! When you feel this mesh for the first time, you may wonder if the adhesive will be strong enough to work. I thought the same thing the first time I felt it, so I tested a strip of it by covering it with tiles of various sizes. Next, I swung it around, whipped it back and forth and really had to put forth a lot of effort to finally knock the first tile loose. The adhesive is strong enough to hold your design, but light enough to allow you to pull off & move misplaced tiles. Once you try this type of mesh, you’ll never want to go back to your old methods again!
Mosaic mesh can be cut very easily into any shape or size you need. If you’re working on a project like a border near a ceiling or a kitchen / bathroom back splash, you can create it in several, smaller sections or create one large mosaic and then cut it into smaller chunks (between the tiles) before installing. Then place it all together on the wall like pieces of a puzzle.
This mesh is sold in 10 foot long pieces measuring just over 3 feet wide.  You will receive multiple 10′ long pieces if you purchase more than one of this item (rather than a single sheet measuring 20′ or 30′ feet long, etc.) Mesh is sent in sheet form and folded for shipping. Any creases can be smoothed by flattening out the mesh and stretching it by hand.
DIRECTIONS
Place your mesh on a flat surface on top of your pattern, if you have one, with the sticky side up. Then, simply begin sticking your tiles to the mesh, face up. Press firmly so they stick well. The adhesive is strong enough to hold, but light enough so you can very easily pluck misplaced tiles off & move them around.
Next, trim any stray edges from your mesh and prepare your substrate with a thick adhesive (ceramic tile adhesive is good for this step).  Finally, place your mesh/mosaic over the adhesive and press down until the adhesive has squished up through the holes in the mesh, onto the backs of your tiles for a permanent hold.
